Easy, Yummy Chess Squares

There are many variations to this great recipe, but Granny'schess squares are quick, easy, delicious and foolproof!

This is a very rich dessert. Be sure to cut into smallsquares and watch them disappear!

Ingredients

  • 1 box butter recipe yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 8 ounces Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
  • 1 box confectionary sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • Directions
    Preheat oven 350 degrees.

    Butter 9x13 pan lined with foil.

    Combine cake mix, 1 egg, melted butter, and chopped pecansinto a large bowl. Press into bottom of pan.

    Mix softened cream cheese, 2 eggs and vanilla. Add sugar a little at a time (about 1/5 box at a time). Pour over mixture in pan.

    Bake 35 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

    Make sure dessert is well browned.

    Cool in pan, then cut into small squares before serving.
