Crawfish Bread

Indescribably Delicious

Crawfish, also known as crayfish, resembles a mini lobster. Crawfish bread combines crawfish, seasonings and cheeses are blended together, stuffed into French bread, and then baked.

This is a unique recipe is destined to be one of the favorites!

Ingredients

  • 2 loaves French bread
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 cup celery
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups (2 pounds) frozen crawfish tails, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup black olives, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

  • Directions
    Cut both French bread lengthwise. Scoop out insides on bothtop and bottom. The insides can be saved and used for bread pudding.

    Melt butter.
    Add celery, onion, garlic, salt and pepper.
    When celery and onion are mixed well, add crawfish and olives.

    Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat.

    Add mayonnaise and dry mustard. Mix well.
    Cool for 10 minutes.
    Slowly add cheeses, mixing gently.

    Fill inside bread with mixture.
    Replace top cover of bread and baste with melted butter.
    Wrap bread in foil.

    Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
